Tennis and Golf Elbow
Symptoms of Tennis and Golf Elbow
The pain and weakness associated with the conditions of tennis and golf elbow flow from either side of the elbow to the forearm and wrist. You don’t have to be an athlete to experience the pain of tennis and golf elbow..
Treatment and Prevention of Tennis and Golf Elbow
Tennis and golf elbow usually gets better on their own. Dr. Przybysz will thoroughly evaluate your elbow mobility and function and assess your level of pain during elbow movement before recommending a personalized treatment plan that may include the following:
- Over-the-counter pain relief medications (e.g. Tylenol or NSAIDs) to control pain and reduce tendon inflammation. Apply ice or heat packs to the elbow may also alleviate pain.
- Injections: Injection therapy, including steroid injections or platelet-rich plasma injections, can be used to reduce pain in the affected elbow. Dry needling may also improve pain in the tendon.
- Physical Therapy: Therapy can be one of the most effective and successful treatments for tennis and golf elbow. Physical therapists will design a specialized program to help strengthen the affected area and work on mobility and provide alternative methods of movement that can minimize stress on the tendons in the elbow to reduce pain during daily activities.
